Laugh So Hard Your Guts Hurt
October 2006
Boring day? These hilarious memories will put a smile on your face and take you back to your days as an undergrad. Relive your wild days and share your memories with us at here.
What is the memory that makes you laugh hardest today?
“Monte Hall calling me Nate Rour from the front porch of the fraternity house as I walked up North Bellefield Avenue. It was shortened to "Nate" shortly thereafter.” - Paul W. Nettrour, Jr., ’50
“We had a gas fireplace in the room. The carpet had been cut away to expose the valve that regulated the thing. Gas leaked from this valve, and when you lit the fireplace you also had to light the valve to catch the escaping gas. The memory of lying in bed at night and watching flame coming from the middle of the floor still amuses me. We were young, tough and without care or common sense.” - Arthur E. Pape, ’63
“I always laugh when I think of Dave Lambert's Boxer (one of his very large dogs) humping the passed out face of Brother Billiam Elmes after a night of heavy drinking on a certain New Years Eve.” - Jeremy Masseth, ’00

Describe the best party
“Chug-a-lugging beer at the Gold Bar.” - Paul W. Nettrour, Jr., ’50
“Since alcohol was not permitted in the house (and since I was president of IFC I was in charge of enforcing that rule) we did what Americans did best- drink and drive. We would rent some American legion post 30 miles out for our parties, pile into a few cars, drive out, get blitzed and drive back. John Puscaric was renowned for his eclectic tastes. He would mix everything together and drink the mixture. I don't know which was our best party but I know that we were lucky to survive them.” - Arthur E. Pape, ’63
“The toga party in 1966 was incredible; ladder to the 2nd floor of 244 North Bellefield, slide from the 2nd floor to the main hallway and togas everywhere” - Kenneth C. Frederick, ’68
